David Gilbert

Scientific Consultant

David joined the Wulff Lab in November 2024 as a scientific consultant having recently completed his PhD at the John Innes Centre, Norwich, where he focused on dissecting the genetic mechanisms of disease resistance in Aegilops tauschii against several diseases of wheat. He is particularly interested in the evolutionary interplay between the bread wheat primary, secondary, and tertiary gene pools and how each can be exploited to improve wheat’s resistance against biotic threats. Prior to his PhD he obtained both a first-class BSc hons and an MSc with distinction from the University of East Anglia.

Outside of the lab you might find him up a mountain, on a hockey pitch or in a coffee shop.
