Renad Al Ahmadi

PhD Student

Renad first joined the Wulff Lab in 2025 during her MSc, now continuing as a PhD student in Environmental Science and Engineering. During her MSc, her research focused on engineering wheat rust resistance gene constructs, with an emphasis on Lr67 and Sr26 for future multi-gene stacking.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with honours from Taibah University and later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Bioscience/Bioengineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). During her time at KAUST, she contributed to untargeted metabolomics projects on Ajwa dates, performing chemical profiling using GC-MS and NMR.

Her current research focuses on cereal cyst nematode (CCN) resistance in wheat. Her work involves characterizing CCN populations in Saudi Arabia, evaluating wheat resistance, and identifying and cloning resistance genes, as well as developing molecular markers to support breeding efforts towards more resilient wheat cultivars for Saudi Arabia and the wider MENA region.
