Radha Krishna Bhandari
Master’s Student
Radha Krishna Bhandari holds a master’s degree in plant breeding and genetics from Tribhuvan University, Nepal. He is experienced in heat- and drought-associated marker analysis in Nepalese wheat, field phenotyping, disease assessment, genotype x environment interactions, and multi-environment wheat trials under heat, drought and combined stresses. He joined the Wulff lab in October 2026 with a particular interest in resistance gene discovery and functional validation, their combination into multi-gene stacks, introduction into wheat, and deployment with minimal yield trade-offs. More broadly, he is interested in translational wheat genetics that connects discoveries in the lab with improved varieties and benefits for farmers.
In the long term, he hopes to establish a research institution in Nepal dedicated to breeding improved crop varieties that can feed, nourish, and sustain people, combining genomics and bioinformatics with crop biotechnology, including genetic transformation, genetically modified crops, and CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing.
