Francisco Javier Guzman Vega
Postdoctoral Fellow
Javier obtained his PhD in Bioscience in 2024 from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. His PhD research focused on the design and application of bioinformatic pipelines to diverse biological problems ranging from the study of de novo proteins in rice to the annotation of protein variants related to disease.
He joined the Wulff Lab in October 2024 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, and his main goal is to implement machine learning-assisted bioinformatic pipelines for the prediction and modeling of protein-protein interactions in wheat and a number of wheat pathogens. These approaches can assist in the generation of new hypotheses and guide laboratory work, for example to understand the mechanism of action of disease resistance genes.
