Radim joined the Wulff Lab in August of 2022 as a Postdoctoral Researcher. He obtained his PhD degree from Palacký University in Olomouc, Czech Republic. His previous research was conducted in the Institute of Experimental Botany AS CR, Olomouc, Czech Republic and in INRA, Clermont-Ferrand, France. It was focused on physical mapping of Ph2 in hexaploid wheat, a major gene affecting chromosome pairing in meiosis. The mapping was performed through phenotyping deletion lines.

Currently, he is working on the creation of a wheat rust resistance gene library. This tool will act as a foundation for building durable rust resistance in wheat, with the aim of obtaining a resistant wheat cultivar fit for agricultural deployment.

Radim’s research interests include plant resistance genes and their practical uses in agriculture. He is also engaged in perfecting a high molecular weight DNA isolation protocol from plants, which he uses for Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing.
